Yeah, well, it's all WIP before it's out, but this was the first impression and you know what they say about that. Also, that's all we got to go on really. Got to talk about something. Smile

Anywho, for me, the biggest problem isn't the gameplay, it's the setting, genre and purpose.

I think the main purpose was to get money in order to be able to continue to work on totems... knowing the financian situation in which 10tacle was since January 2008, I can understand this desperate move.

I've updated our Planet-Totems video section.
You can now download all videos that we could get our hands on:

enjoy them - maybe we will never get to see anything else of the game Crying or Very sad

Download Totems Videos

/Edit: Do you remember? 6 years ago?
on August 8th 2002 Outcast 2 - The Lost Paradise was canceled
on August 16th 2002 - I created this fansite for Yves Grolet and all his projects
on August 5th 2008 - 10tacle Studios Belgium was closed
...
today - there's nothing left but sadness and a glimpse of hope for better days...

Thank you for the video Messiah. I hung up it already in my OutcastSpain's channel in YouTube.

If we are fans of OUTCAST and TOTEMS, I believe that would must to do everything what we can before gives for lost also URBAN RACE, the unique miracle to finance TOTEMS... ¿True?

I´m going to try everything what could, though August is very badly a month, to contact with the people.

How many time have they limit to find a publisher for URBAN RACE?

I know it's not a surprise, but I'll share the latest news with you anyway.
I asked Yves about the current status of Totems and if there are any news on upcoming games.

here is what he replied:

No, nothing new
I think that Totems is definitely dead !
Thanks anyway for all your support !!!

Cordially, Yves

Crying or Very sad

I know that it is very hard, to your that are time giving support to Yves Grolet, but will must to encourage the people to do something more, because TOTEMS deserves to see the light, is of few games, which deserve to be sold and to pay 60 € for it.

I am thinking in the gentleman Yves Grolet, and in his team, and will must about putting in mouth of all the mass media this one injustice.

I do not say that just now there are no problems moreover serious in this world in crisis, but to visit the scenaries that OUTCAST offered us and that TOTEMS us want to offer, it is to believe again in the world of the video games, and to wake our spirit up towards new horizons.

Let's do something, but not a book of signatures. Together we can! It´s true!

I do not want the defeat! I want that we act!

The companies of games, they are based on the opinion of its clients. we show, our force for fighting for TOTEMS, for God!

Out victims! Let's fight to show what costs TOTEMS! A universe almost so rich as the created one for J.R.R. Tolkien, I do not want that it falls down in the oblivion. Must not do it!

Please, like the Ulukai, let's fight to save the land of TOTEMS, let's fight for something that is worth it!

If you knew what I did in Spain with the Plataforma-ICO (We obtain new edition in Spain, when wasn´t foreseen. 5.000 units.) and OKAMI-Spain (We obtain a digital book with 25.000 lines of dialog of the game, in spanish and english.), you will be with me.

Although we will few obtain, always will be more than if we remain of crossed arms.

Please, we will must to react!

Yes! We must fight to bring it back! We cannot allow another game to fall into the depths of non-existence! We need ACTION! We need to release its story to the world! We have to give it the light it deserves!

...oh, and hi everyone! I'm new here!

I doubt that our (64 people?) donations will do anything (you would probably need serious money to buy the game from the insurance company, or whomever owns it at this point). Things usually get very messy in a situation like this, but technically since 10Tacle went bankrupt its assets should be up for sale.

If anyone is a lawyer or videogame insider and wants to find out a ballpark figure it is possible that you could try to drum up community support for purchasing the game in its unfinished state. I guess the key is whether the game art and code has been kept intact, and whether the assets have any value beyond what the fan community might be willing to offer.

The problem, of course, with Totems is that it is unfinished and it sounds like quite a lot of work is needed to complete the project. The development team seems to be pretty disgruntled and they don't sound like people who would be willing to work for free/low pay on the project (I wouldn't blame them after what happened).

I would suggest to anyone who wanted to try to revive totems: 1.) See if Yves Grolet is interested in continuing on the project (I think it needs him), 2.) See if the game is for sale for something reasonable and think of ways to pay for it. 3.) See if it is possible to make it an open source community-based project (I think a project of this caliber might attract free programming and art talent).

Some of us would be willing to pay for the game with no expectation of ever seeing it purely based on an appreciation for Yves' past work, the quality of the game art produced to this date by what was clearly a team of very talented artists, and for the sake of supporting creativity in an otherwise bleak landscape of boring games.
